The person who submits the winning design will be awarded $150 and a free bike tune up at the Bike Shop!
Bicycle Enthusiasts, Artists, Designers, and Eco Lovers: it's time to start cranking your artistic wheels!
The Office of Campus life is seeking proposals for a creative and functional bicycle rack. One proposal will be selected from among the submissions and the winning design will be fabricated and installed on Willamette’s campus. The winner will also be awarded $150 and a free bike tune up at the Bike Shop!
This project embodies WU’s commitment to sustainability and will encourage bicycling as a mode of transportation. The bike rack itself will add capacity to existing bike storage on campus, and will also add a distinctive artistic touch to this utilitarian function. The goal is to foster creative energy within the Willamette Community in order to break the mold of conventional conceptions of bike racks.
This competition is open to all members of the Willamette University community, including undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. This is a terrific opportunity to leave a lasting impact the Willamette campus!
Designs should include the following:
- A scaled sketch or drawing of the proposed rack, including dimensions, colors (if any), and identification of key features. Both computer-generated and free-hand designs will be accepted.
- A written description that explains the design features and creative aspects of your proposal.
- Your contact information: First and last name, address, phone number and email address.
The winning proposal will be advanced to a fabrication agency; you do not need to provide any technical specifications, materials, etc., as these aspects will be handled by the fabricator.
