Focus your career goals, gain experience, get active

  • Decide if you are interested in grad school or immediate employment
    • Prepare for grad school
    • Meet with admission counselors from schools you are interested in
    • Take appropriate admission tests
    • Research graduate programs
  • Revise resume
  • Take on a leadership role
  • Meet with your academic advisor and the Registrar's office to make sure you are on track for graduation
  • Begin networking (Alumni Career Network)
  • Connect with alumni in your field of interest
  • Consider practical work experience, such as an internship, instead of just trying to find a job
  • If you studied abroad, learn to make the most of your international experience by meeting with one of our career counselors
  • Explore fellowship and scholarship opportunities as well as summer research grants
  • Attend First Avenue Career Fair
  • Talk to career counselors for resource recommendations from our career resource library - check the book out!
  • Contact faculty/employers for letters of recommendation
  • Look into an academic or career-related internship. Consider doing a second internship!
  • Look into alternative plans for after graduation, such as Peace Corps, Teach for America, the JET program, or AmeriCorps.
  • Register for Compass
