OLD BUSINESS

Scholarship – Cindy Anderson shared the announcement flyer that all employees received regarding the Classified Employees Scholarship Fund, which came from university relations. The money raised from the cookbook will be used to help fund the scholarship along with donations from classified employees. The Classified Council would like to have the scholarship endowed, which means we need to raise $51,000.00. The Council had Patty Hoban from Financial Aid come to our meeting to answer questions regarding procedures and to make sure we were working in the right direction regarding the scholarship.

The scholarship fund will be awarded this spring to two recipients at $500.00 each to be used for books or housing. Ramona Murtha motioned that the scholarship be open to include students from all schools, seconded and passed. For this year only the Classified Council will solicit nominations from Classified Employees. After the first year, the scholarship process will be to announce the scholarship to students, have the students fill out an application and submit to the Council, along with a Willamette University recommendation from one employee outlining why the student should receive the scholarship.
