I am a senior, Sociology major and AES minor. I love working with kids and am passionate about issues around education and youth homelessness. For me, community service is an important way to get involved with and give back to my community. One of my favorite service projects I've been involved in at Willamette is AVID Day.

I am a Junior at Willamette University, majoring in Sociology and Spanish. When I first came to Willamette University I wanted to be a Politics major, but after I started working at Willamette Academy I totally changed my mind. The work that I did there made me realize that my strengths and talents were developed and strengthened when I was working with students. Working with students made me and makes me feel useful, that is why I love working with students. It is a passion that will mark my future career.

I'm a sophomore with a Rhetoric and Media Studies Major with a Music Minor! I love music, both playing and listening to it. I've been playing the flute since I was eight years old and have a guitar and ukulele that never leave my side. I'm passionate about helping special needs children through the arts and music. To me, community service means gaining perspective and giving back to the community.

Claire Scheffer

My name is Claire Scheffer and I am a sophomore pre-med student. What else is there to know about me? I am the biggest movie buff you will ever know and am readily available if anyone needs any recommendations. I danced ballet when I was a child, but was never very good. I know how to play the saxophone, both alto and tenor. I have a dog who is my best friend in the entire world. My goal in life is to hit every continent and every state in the US. I love volunteering, but have a particular fondness for working with children. My mother is a teacher and her love of helping children through education has inspired my volunteer work in the past and continues to do so.

I am a freshman, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Environmental Science. As the baby of the CSL Coordinators I'm still figuring out how things work at Willamette, but I am passionate about service and hope to make a positive contribution to our community. I think service learning is really valuable because it exposes students to important social issues, challenges us to make a difference, and gives us opportunities to feel connected to each other and to our communities.

Hi there! I'm a junior psychology major. I've always loved working with animals and have more recently discovered my passion for feminism and the rights and well being of all women. I'm a self-proclaimed crazy cat lady and think that the Internet might be the best invention ever. My favorite aspect of service is that it not only allows me to contribute to the community that supports me, but also provides an amazing way to navigate my own life, identity and passions. I can't wait to help others find that same fulfillment!

Hi my nickname is Becca and I am an Anthropology Major and Religious Studies Minor. I love making up new words, watching movies, dancing and singing. I have six siblings, so I've learned that helping and teachings others is very important to personal and community growth and is very much needed. I love to share, help others and encourage people to laugh and make a difference. I love volunteering and helping other organizations that may not have the funding to hire workers or the time to do things that may help their organization thrive. I am always very glad to be a part of any volunteer event because I know that through my willingness to help, I am making a positive impact on someone.

I am a Junior, majoring in English. I love singing, dancing, Zumba, and hiking For me, community service offers the opportunity to step outside of my own universe and hopefully contribute to my community in an active way. Service continually opens my eyes to different social justice issues, and challenges me to think deeply about how I can contribute to building a better future.
