As a member of the Willamette University community, you have many opportunities to be a resource to both students and the local community. We invite you to consider advising a service-based student organization, serving as a trip advisor for a Take a Break trip, teaching using service-learning, participating in a Community Service Learning event, facilitating workshops, or mentoring students as they develop leadership skills and justice awareness. Please email service@willamette.edu with your interests, and we will help connect you to students who can benefit from your knowledge and skills.

Ways to Become a Resource

  • Advise a Service-Based Student Organization

If you are interested in advising a service-related student organization, please email service@willamette.edu. Your name will be added to a list of potential advisors for student organization leaders in need of an advisor.

  • Advise a TaB Trip

Take a Break (TaB) is a student-led alternative break program that places small groups of Willamette University students, staff, and faculty in communities across America to engage in community service and experiential learning. Trips are student-led; however, 1-2 faculty or staff serve as advisors and fully participate in each trip. Previous TaB advisors have returned from their TaB trips with immensely meaningful experiences and share that they feel privileged to have had the opportunity to participate. To learn more about being a TaB advisor, please visit the TaB website or email service@willamette.edu.

  • Attend a Community Service Learning Event

Staff and faculty are welcome and encouraged to join the programs and events sponsored by the Office of Community Service Learning!

  • Teach with Service-Learning

Are you currently teaching with service-learning? Interested in learning more about service-learning? Excited to integrate service-learning into your course? Check out our service-learning resources or email service@willamette.edu for assistance.
