Opportunity Description:

Boys and Girls club is looking to reinstate a program called ‘Fella’s Club.’ This group involves connecting with several university male student volunteers to come hang out and mentor our male youth at the Teen Center. It’s about an hour a week commitment. The idea is to hand out and start discussions, eat of course, and provide some positive role models who are close to the teens’ age.

Volunteer opportunities include working with pre-school/kindergarten children (Monday & Wednesday 1:30 - 2:30 pm), working with elementary school children (Tuesday & Thursday 1:00 - 3:00 pm), or tutoring Monday - Wednesday from 4:15-6:00 pm.

Easter Seals Children's Therapy Center is a therapy center in West Salem that provides services for children with developmental disabilities and additional special needs and diagnoses, ranging from autism to depression, and their families.

Opportunity Description:

Easter Seals are starting up a mentorship program, and are looking for students to serve. This is a great opportunity to work with/mentor a child who is in need of a positive role model. The program requires a very minimum commitment and is a great experience!

Opportunity Description:

We're enrolling guys for our Sports Buddie Program. We train volunteers to build trusting, positive and fun relationships with their male mentees through weekly featured basketball activities at Parrish Middle School.

What is a Sports Buddy?
An male adult mentor who loves sports and would enjoy providing:
- Friendship
- Positive & upbeat attitude
- Coaching
- Interactions through sports

What Will Mentors Do?
Mentors and mentees will participate in weekly basketball activities with 2 mentees (youth).

Requirements & Qualifications

- Be able to pass criminal history and driving history check
- Be available to meet weekly with 2 youth at Parrish Middle School for a minimum of 6 months
- Have reliable transportation and be willing to pick up and drop of mentees at their homes.

SENCC After school Care Program

Agency Description:

The Southeast Neighborhood Community Center runs an after school care program for children in the neighborhood which surrounds Willamette University. Approximately 85-100 children attend the after school care program each day so the center is always in need of more volunteers.

Opportunity Description:

The after school program runs Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 5:30 pm (Wednesdays 2:00 - 5:30 pm). The program's daily schedule includes play time, learning center time, snack time, and music/story time. The SESNA community center needs volunteers to read with kids, play court sports, check-in kids when they arrive, play board games or supervise kids at play during their free after-school program We welcome Willamette students to volunteer with us!
