Community Action Drug Prevention Network (CADPN) is a non-profit organization in Salem that serves Marion and Polk counties with the goal of preventing and reducing drug and alcohol use among all people in our service area. 

Opportunity Description:

CADPN is in need of volunteers to work with their youth programs - serving as a mentor at a cross generational after school mentoring program at McKay High School, or serving as a volunteer driver for reward-reminder outings with youth to reduce the sales of tobacco to minors (must be at least 21, have reliable transportation, and car insurance). Girls on the Run Willamette Valley - Marion County

Agency Description:

Girls on the Run is a life-changing, experiential learning program meant to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. The program combines physical training to run a 5K (3.1 miles) event at the end of the season with uplifting, self-e steem boosting workouts. There are detailed lesson plans for each after-school practice that are written to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development.

Opportunity Description:

5K Buddies are matched one-on-one with a girl from the "Girls on the Run" program to accompany, encourage and serve as her mentor during the 5K (3.1 miles) race. 5K Buddies will be responsible for keeping pace with the girl, ensuring her safety and cheering her on until she crosses the finish line! Girls on the Run is a non competitive running program and therefore the race should not be treated as a competitive event unless the girl desires it to be such.

Total hours: 7 (5 hours on race day and 2 hours with buddy prior). Contact Lorin Scott-Okerblom by May 3rd to mentor for the June 1st Race!

Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette is seeking volunteers for a Patient Support Volunteer position in Salem. Volunteers are to provide non-judgmental support and monitoring for women in the surgical room during their in-clinic abortion procedure. Salem Free Clinics conduct 54 specialty clinics every month serving approximately 600 patients in Marion and Polk counties. Specialty Clinics Offer: Acute Medical Care, Mental Health, Counseling, Dental, Diabetic, Allergy, Headache, Orthopedic, Dietician, Chiropractic, and Physical Therapy. They partner with MedAssist to provide medications at no charge to patients as well as Project Access to refer patients to specialists who donate their services.

SIGNATURE HOSPICE provides an individualized program of physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical care for people in the last phases of a terminal illness, with an emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms. The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying, making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible, and in familiar surroundings. Signature Hospice believes that providing care for a terminal patient is a sacred and honored opportunity to help people live as fully as possible while embracing the demands of terminal illness.

Opportunity Description:

Your compassionate heart is calling to be of service. Consider the most sacred work of supporting patients and families as a companion volunteer. Signature Hospice invites you to provide a healing presence to hospice patients and families in Salem and surrounding communities. Visit patients/families one to two times a week.

We also need volunteers with pet-therapy certified pets, LMT's, Reiki, Aromatherapy practitioners, and musicians to help enhance our patients' quality of life.

 Our next volunteer training is comprised of three sessions: March 23rd, 24th, & 30th, 9am-5pm each session for a total of 22 hours.

Willamette Family Medical Center is a non-profit medical center which seeks to provide affordable access to healthcare regardless of financial or language barriers.
