Opportunity Description: The HOME Youth Resource Center is in need of volunteers to assist outreach workers by hitting the streets armed with a backpack of hygiene and harm reduction supplies along with resource information. Volunteers would talk to teenagers and attempt to assist them with their basic needs along with offering them community resource referrals and connecting them with the outreach workers to be case managed. Volunteers will learn about a hidden population and will come face to face with the realities of abuse, neglect, poverty, hunger, drug and alcohol usage, and victimization along with the beauty of hope and resiliency. Agency Description: The Northwest Human Services, HOST Youth and Family Program is an emergency youth shelter for homeless and runaway youth ages 11-18. We are typically a two week program and some of our services are: family mediation, counseling, case management, parenting classes, etc. |

Agency Description: Established in 1987, Marion-Polk Food Share (MPFS) is a non-profit charity providing food for people at risk of hunger in Oregon’s mid-Willamette Valley. Between July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012, MPFS distributed 8.2 million pounds—just to assist hungry residents of Marion and Polk counties. |

Opportunity Description: There are a number of opportunities and programs with which to get involved! The Gardens Program helps schools, neighborhoods and families learn how to eat healthfully and responsibly. The Edible Landscape at the warehouse models to the community an alternative source of community food. Donated food is sorted and re-packed by volunteers five days a week at the warehouse. The Community Kitchen is a place where volunteers teach others how to stretch a food budget and cook nutritious meals. Opportunity Description: We are currently looking to fill volunteer positions for a site scout and a harvest leader. These positions offer flexible schedules, often evenings and weekends. Site Scout - visit growers and plan the harvest. This involves:
Commitment- train with supervisor on 3 sites and coordinate at least 3 more sites that you lead.
Commitment- assist with 2 harvests, shadow a trained Harvest Leader for 2 harvests, lead 2 or more of your own harvests. |

Agency Description: St. Francis Shelter is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families in need. By providing temporary transitional housing, we create an environment that allows clients to pursue certain fundamental life goals, such as housing, employment, education for children and so forth. All families at St. Francis have care of children so we offer families an opportunity to visit the library and enjoy the games, materials and resources available. |

Opportunity Description: The St. Francis Shelter (11 blocks from campus!) is in need of volunteers to serve as case managers to help support families experiencing homelessness and seeking help with housing, employment, social services, childcare, etc. Translator assistance is available for volunteers who are not bilingual. Time commitment is 4-6 hours per week, with 2 hours done at the shelter on Monday mornings from 9:30 - 12:00. One year commitment is preferred. No experience is necessary - training is provided. Must be 18+ and pass a background check. For more information, please contact Helana at 503-588-0428. The St. Francis Center is also looking for people who would enjoy working with kids of all ages in a library for 2 hours a week. We have 3 computers, games, arts and crafts, books, movies and provide a snack and juice. Volunteers can help children with homework, play games, read or plan an activity. The shelter has 13 furnished one and two bedroom apartments and a 3 bedroom house. Families with children stay at the shelter for free while developing skills to live independently and find permanent housing. If you are interested they encourage you to come and visit the library.
