There is a multitude of ways that you can build service into your life while attending Willamette University. At a very informal level you can view our current opportunities database and directly contact agencies or schools to volunteer with. You can also view a comprehensive list of agencies at http://ywcasalem.org/salemforum/directory.html. Many are within walking distance or will indicate a bus route which you can ride for free with your student I.D. In this section you will find more formal ways to serve. Finding a balance between academics and extracurricular activities is essential to achieving a well-rounded education. Attend a two-hour volunteer opportunity on a Saturday, spend an hour a week reading to a child at one of the schools in our neighborhood, or help to set-up an event for one of the student organizations. If you find you have more time to give then consider joining a service-based student organization, join our leadership staff, attend a full week of service immersion during the break, or take a class that offers service learning as an assignment. The college years are your chance to serve in different ways, exploring your passion and making decisions about how you will make a difference in our world.
