Hello there!
My name is Elizabeth Jaspers and I am a senior at Willamette. I am majoring in Sociology with an emphasis in American Ethnic Studies. Along with my involvement in NSOCO, I am also very involved on campus in the other community service efforts such as the Backpack Project which provides backpacks full of needed supplies to underprivileged youth in the Salem community through HOME, youth and resource center. I also spend a large about of my time in the Greek system at Willamette, as well as my work-study job in University Relations.
When I am not busy with work or classes I love to spend time traveling. Although I have not formally travelled abroad through Willamette, I have gone on two Willamette post-sessions. The May following my freshman year I travelled on a post-session study to Chicago, and the May following my sophomore year I travelled to South Africa to study social movements and social change.
Family and friends are my passion. I have three brothers and many cousins that I am very close with. While at Willamette I have made so many new friends and it has been a great experience for me.
I love being a student at Willamette. I am very excited for my senior year. I hope that you all enjoy your experience as much as I have. If I could give you one piece advice - it would to talk to your professors. Go to their offices, make relationships with them. They are all so very interesting, can be extremely helpful, and are friendly and enjoy getting to know you as well. You never know when this connection can come in helpful whether its an extension on a paper or a letter of recommendation.
