Volunteer as an Advisor

 As an advisor your primary role is to mentor student leaders, participate in service, and contribute to meaningful discussion about relevant issues. If you are interested in advising a Take a Break service trip, please read the Advisor Position Description (DOC) for information. Applicants with experience participating in a service immersion trips are given priority. View the trip sites, which represent partnerships with communities we return to annually as well as new projects proposed by students.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest via email covering the following points:

  1. Relevant experience mentoring students, providing service, and applicable skills (carpentry, spanish language, building community partnerships, sustainability, etc.)
  2. Take a Break participation includes weekly meetings leading up to the service immersion trip, occasional meetings with the Take a Break Program Advisor, and full participation in the actual trip. Please indicate your availability for this time commitment.
  3. Please list which trips you are interested in advising and why.
Submit a completed Alternative Break Supervisory Approval form via campus mail to Take a Break, University Center.
