Student Emergency Coordination
The most efficient method of coordinating a temporary absence from classes/campus in case of an emergency (e.g., health crisis, family death, unexpected event) is to contact one of the following:

These three offices work in a collaborative effort to inform faculty of a temporary absence and to help the student manage their life to deal with the issues.
If feasible, students also need to notify their professors and advisor of prolonged absences.
