The domestic student health insurance plan for 2007-2008 through Fairmont Specialty Group, provides coverage for part of the cost of emergency care and some outpatient medical, mental health, and drug and alcohol care. This policy is a secondary insurance, meaning other coverage the student may carry is considered primary and must be utilized first. If the student has a primary insurance plan that is an HMO or PPO, those guidelines must be followed. Out-of-state students should check with their primary insurance to determine coverage while on campus at Willamette University. ( See Plan Summary)
All students who are half time or more are required to carry health insurance. Student health insurance is billed automatically online by the student accounts office at the beginning of each academic year. Students who have other coverage may elect to go online after July 1, 2007 to waive out of this student insurance plan. This plan must be waived prior to September 17, 2007. The link to waive online can be found on the left navigation bar on this page (Student Brochure and Online Waiver). Once the student waives coverage the student's account will be credited for this charge prior to the next billing cycle. The coverage period is August 15, 2007-August 15, 2008. The rate for the student insurance plan for the 2007-2008 school year is a 2 tier rate based on age. The rate is based on your age on August 15, 2007. Students age 24 and under will pay $405 per year and students over 24 will pay $700 per year. The rate is not pro-rated for students who begin in the spring or mid-year.
Dependent Insurance is available if the student is enrolled in the Student Sickness and Accident Plan. Dependent insurance can only be added at the beginning of the fall semester. Exception is only made for a newborn dependent which must be added within 31 days after birth. Those wishing to purchase Dependent Insurance may enroll at the Business Office Cashier located in Waller Hall. The coverage period is August 15, 2007 - August 15, 2008. The brochure, enrollment form and insurance card for the dependent plan can be linked on the left navigation bar found on this page.
International students and their dependents have very specific insurance requirements and must enroll in a different plan than the Willamette Health Insurance Program. Please contact Chris Andresen, Assistant Director of International Education for information and prices.
