Life and Disability Insurance coverage is provided by Willamette for all eligible employees who work a minimum of 30 hours per week, or are otherwise a .75 FTE employee. Group Term Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (ADD) are afforded to eligible employees in the amount of two (2) times the employee's annual salary. In addition, optional life insurance and ADD benefits are made available for employees and their dependents, including spouses, domestic partners, and children, through the Group Term Life program.
Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage is provided to the same eligibility class identified above for the life insurance, and provides income replacement at 60% of salary starting at the ninety (90) day mark of total disability. In addition, the LTD plan provides for 100% replacement of the employer retirement contribution in the case of disability.
Benefts are paid based on the terms and conditions of the Summary Plan Description (SPD). Employees may download Summary Plan Descriptions by clicking on the links that follow:
* Please note, Willamette University "self insures" this benefit from the 90th to the 180th day of total disability, after which our LTD insurer picks up the claim. Benefits during the self-insured period are applied for and adjudicated through the insurance company, however, disability payments are processed through the Willamette payroll system, including the continuance of retirement benefits.
