Retirement Program
Issue Eligibility Benefit
Social Security Eligible to participate upon hire Dependent on years worked and amount contributed as established by law.
University Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (TIAA-CREF or AIG Retirement) Plan entry is the 1st of the month following date of hire. Dependent on amount contributed and age at retirement.
Supplemental Retirement Annuities (TIAA-CREF, AIG Retirement, Vanguard, Calvert or American Funds) Upon hire Can be tax-sheltered up to the IRS maximum. An amount to be used for retirement or could be drawn upon earlier, if needed.
Health and Dental Insurance
Issue Eligibility Benefit
Pioneer 1st of the month following date of hire
PPO Option - Health Insurance including Prescription Drug, Alternative Care and Vision. Provider network is through Regence BlueCross BlueShield.
Kaiser Foundation 1st of the month following date of hire HMO Option - Health Insurance including Prescription Drug and Vision
Pioneer Dental Plan 1st of the month following date of hire Dental Insurance on Fee for Service Basis. No provider network (can choose any dentist).
Disability
Issue Eligibility Benefit
Social Security Earnings record of 20 quarters in preceding 10 years. Established by law—Paid 100% by benefits at age 65. Payments begin after 5 months and last as long as disability continues or until age 65.
Worker's Compensation Upon hire Established by law. 66-2/3% of salary while recuperating from job related injuries, plus reimbursement of all medical expenses.
Long Term Disability One year of employment or on a plan with prior employer Replacement income. Combines with Worker's Comp. and Social Security where applicable. 60% of income up to $6,000/month, less the sum of benefits from other sources. Includes provision for partial disability. Pays retirement contributions. 90 day waiting period. Continues for length of disability or until age 65.

Issue Eligibility Benefit
Group Life Insurance 1st of the month following date of hire Group (term) life insurance at 2 times annual salary.
Voluntary Insurance Upon hire Allows employee to choose from a variety of insurance plans, including whole and term life, short-term disability, long-term care, and many others. Coverage available for spouse and children under certain plans.
Travel Accident Insurance Upon hire $125,000 for loss of life, limb or sight while traveling on official college-authorized business.
Flexible Spending Account Upon hire Allows employee to pay for certain health related and/or dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Upon hire Provides counseling services for employee and family. Five visits per incident/year.
Voluntary Severance Arrangement Twenty year employee having reached age 59 May provide income at 1/3 of last year worked plus continued health coverage, not to exceed three years of payments. Refer to Voluntary Service Arrangement Guidelines.
Tuition Remission Six months of employment for employee & spouse.  Five years for dependent children. Tuition remission for dependent children requires a five-year waiting period, however, employment at other institutions of higher education will be counted toward the waiting period. Full tuition for dependent biological, step or adopted children. Tuition waiver for one class/ semester for employee and spouse. Additional classes at 50% of tuition cost.
Financial Planning Immediately upon hire Two hours of personal consultation by designated Cert. Financial Planner per year.
Pre-Paid Legal Upon hire Provides for a range of preventive and defensive legal services.
