The Atkinson Graduate School of Management invites applications for an endowed chair in international management at the associate or full professor rank. Salary is competitive. Located in the Pacific Northwest, Willamette University provides easy access to the Portland metropolitan area, the ocean, and the Cascade Mountains.
Requirements: Completed doctorate in international management or related discipline, coupled with strong teaching and scholarly experience; ability to pursue scholarly activities independently and collaboratively; ability to design and teach both traditional MBA and executive education courses. Interest in international trade (products and services), investment, management with an emphasis on nations that have trade relations with businesses in the State of Oregon or are potential trading partners. The successful candidate will be able to understand and communicate the impact of global issues on the State and the impact of local public policies on international management and business.
Preferred attributes: An academically qualified scholar of national stature or one who exhibits potential for national recognition. An outstanding teacher who has the capacity to incorporate both the economic and cultural dimensions of international management into teaching and research. Enthusiasm for teaching in an integrated, interdisciplinary core curriculum. Familiarity with experiential learning (e.g. project based courses, case-based courses) and student/faculty exchange programs.
Appointment: Begins August, 2008; rank and salary commensurate with qualifications.
About the School: The Atkinson School is a growing, professional graduate school within a private, liberal arts university (www.willamette.edu/mba). The School offers an MBA degree in two different formats. In Salem, Oregon we offer a full-time day program; in Portland and Salem, Oregon we offer an evening-based MBA for working professionals. We also provide a number of executive education programs in Salem, Portland, and other Northwest locations. The School is one of only two in the world accredited by the AACSB (for business) and by NASPAA (for public administration). The faculty is not departmentalized, and faculty members value interdisciplinary collaboration, integrative teaching, experiential learning, research that crosses sectoral and functional boundaries, collegiality, and helping students achieve their intellectual and professional goals.
