The Institute for the Interdisciplinary Social Analysis of Complex Global Challenges (ISA-CGC) was founded in 2009 by a group of Willamette University faculty and students. Funding for the institute is made possible through the generous contributions of the National Science Foundation and Willamette University. While still in its initial developmental stages, ISA-CGC is intended to become institutionalized on the Willamette campus. After the completion of its inaugural project that explores Diaspora Engagement in Homeland Health, the Institute will be passed on to another Willamette faculty member and a new global challenge will be examined on a four-year rotational basis. The Institute represents an additional model on the Willamette campus to promote collaboration between Willamette University faculty and students, and to strengthen University relations with faculty, students, and scholars throughout the globe. Through these connections, the outcomes of the Institute are intended to provide pragmatic recommendations to some of the most pressing global challenges of our time.
