Beijing, China

Overview

Beijing is the capital and second largest city of the People’s Republic of China. Through this program students attend Peking University which is known for its ties with 80 foreign universities and its great Chinese as a second language and foreign language programs. Academics

Chinese language (Mandarin) classes are available to all students to improve their speaking and writing abilities. Students with a higher level of language ability may choose to take content courses in many subjects. Intensive beginning level Chinese classes are available.

Housing

Students live in University housing with other international and Chinese students. Meals can be purchased at near-by cafeterias or prepared at student housing.

Dates

The Beijing program is available during either the fall or spring semester. Fall semester starts in September and ends mid January; spring semester starts early February and ends late June. Because of Willamette's academic calendar, Spring semester is recommended.

Cost

Students pay only Willamette tuition. Room and board are not included in the cost paid to Willamette University. Students pay Peking University directly for room and board.

If you are considering this program please contact Stacy, the Study Abroad Advisor to set up an appointment. This program is open to freshman applicants. Students are given a set allowance for excursion travel around China, there are no excursions planned by the university.
