Al Akhawayn University located in the resort town of Ifrane, Morocco was established just a few years ago in 1993. This modern and small university offers students academic stimulus and an involved campus life. Visit the Office of International Programs website to learn more.
Students interested in International Studies and politics should consider Al Akhawayn. Most other majors are available as well. See a full list of departments. All students are required to take one Arabic course while in Ifrane.
Most of the students at Al Akhawayn live on campus, as do most exchange students. Students will live in double or single rooms with single baths and share common rooms and kitchens. A meal plan is provided. Off-campus housing is also an option.
The Al Akhawayn program is available in both the fall and spring semester. The fall semester starts late August and ends late December. The spring semester starts late January and ends mid-May.
Willamette tuition and a program fee equivalent to WU’s Room and Board Plan B which includes room, board and onsite support. Health insurance is not included in the program fee, students should budget approximately 660 Moroccan Dirhams (approximately $90 USD) for health insurance per semester. Even though accommodation is included in the exchange, students are required to pay a refundable deposit of 1,000 Moroccan Dirhams (approximately $136 USD), Willamette cannot pay this deposit on behalf of the student.
