Ulster, Ireland

Overview

The University of Ulster is a large multi-campus university in Northern Ireland. The four campuses, Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown, and Magee College have a total student population of about 23,000 with each campus ranging significantly in size. The Ulster program is a Focused ISEP exchange between WU and Ulster, this means that although it is an ISEP program, the universities exchange students directly.

Academics

Students may take courses at only ONE of the four Ulster campuses. For course information read ISEP Course Notes first and then search the Module Database.

Recommended majors include but are not limited to: Art, English, History, Math, Computer Science, Environmental Studies, Exercise Science, Biology, Politics and Sociology. Irish studies courses are available and strongly recommended. Many language courses are also available.

Accommodation

While studying at Ulster students live either in campus housing or near by off campus housing depending on which campus they are attending classes. See Housing and Meals on each campus ISEP page for more information. In all cases students have shared kitchens and receive stipends to purchase food.

Dates

The Ulster program is available in either the fall or spring semester. Fall semester starts late September and ends late January; spring semester starts late January and ends early June. Finals for the fall semester are in January - students must make arrangements with their professors when they arrive at Ulster to take the finals early or when they are back in the U.S. Students must return to the U.S. for the beginning of the Willamette spring semester. Professors are not obligated to allow changes to the finals schedule or location.

Cost

Willamette tuition and a program fee equivalent of Willamettes Room and Board Plan B. The program fee includes room and board, onsite orientation and support.
