Course Selection Form

Please consider your course placements carefully.

Please note that it is nearly impossible to change your registration for courses after you arrive in Granada. Although most students receive their first course choices, it is possible for courses to fill and schedules to conflict. Please review all courses (including back-ups) with your academic advisors.

All classes are taught in Spanish at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas (CLM), where both Spanish and international students study languages. Your CLM courses will include other foreign students studying Spanish, not Spaniards. The last week of the semester is exam week and no rescheduling can be made to accommodate an early departure. Classes are generally scheduled between Monday and Friday, 8:30am to 2:30 pm and Monday through Thursday 3:30pm to 8:30pm. You will not be in class this entire time; individual schedules will vary depending on course preference. (You can also find this information on your Granada Essential Pre Departure Information sheet in your APPROVED STUDENT PACKET.)

You will find all of the available courses for the semester on the Courses page. (The Courses link will open a new page in your browser.) Be sure to look at the list of classes for the appropriate semester - Fall or Spring.

Because you have not yet completed the placement test, please select courses both for the Estudios Hispánicos (Advanced) level and the Lengua y Cultura (Upper-intermediate) level.

Estudios Hispánicos (Advanced Level)

Each student who tests into the Estudios Hispánicos level is automatically enrolled into the Development of Spanish Cultures: A Pluralistic Approach course (formally the Culture and Civilization course) and the Speaking and Writing Skills course. Hispánicos students will take two or three additional courses. All courses are 45 contact hours unless otherwise noted. Please write, in order of preference, five courses you would like to take. (The fourth and fifth course will be considered "back-ups"). Although most students receive their first course choices it is possible for courses to fill and schedules to conflict. Please review all courses (including back-ups) with your academic advisors.

The Site Director of the program and past students highly recommend Hispánicos students enroll in the Advanced Grammar or Superior Grammar course. This course greatly augments the Speaking and Writing Skills course.

Estudios de Lengua y Cultura Españolas (Intermediate Level)

Each student who tests into the Estudios de Lengua y Cultura Españolas level is automatically enrolled into the Development of Spanish Cultures: A Pluralistic Approach course (formally the Culture and Civilization course), Spanish Grammar course, and the Speaking and Writing Skills course. Lengua y Cultura students will take one or two additional courses. All courses are 45 contact hours unless otherwise noted. Please write, in order of preference, five courses you would like to take. (The third, fourth and fifth course will be considered "back-ups"). Although most students receive their first course choices it is possible for courses to fill and schedules to conflict. Please review all courses (including back-ups) with your home institution advisors.
