Interests and Hobbies
Some of my hobbies are watching foreign movies in different languages—I am really trying to stay away from Hollywood. Other of my hobbies would be reading, writing poems, going to the beach to find marine animals, listening to rock music, volunteering, do some social activism. I also like to cook in my free time specially baked goods and Italian. I am right now trying to learn how to cook one of my favorite foods: sushi but I have not succeeded! Not given up though!
Favorite Class at WU
This is a difficult decision, but it would have to be Navigating Social Worlds. This is an introductory class to Sociology. It focuses on how history and biography shapes our society and how it affects our decisions. This class is a really great class to take. It makes you reflect on how society develops, divides and most importantly how your family’s history and own experiences shape your decisions and interactions with society.
Favorite Event at WU
Difficult to decide but it would be the Tree lighting in December. This is not just a special event for the University, but it has become my preferred event in Salem around Christmas season. Every year I try to come along with my family and friends and I believe that this event it’s becoming more popular around the city.
Favorite Restaurant in Salem
If we talk about some place nice to eat around downtown it would have to be Thai Orchid. The restaurant is located next JC Penny and it is just a couple of blocks away from Campus. They offer a great variety of dishes, literally! The food is delicious and you can never finish the dish alone, it is just too much food, but is so yummy. It is the perfect place to bring someone special to celebrate and what else can I say? Well this place is so good that I even love their soups!
Fun Facts
I can eat Ramen for a whole year, but I am also aware that is terribly dangerous. I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. I studied abroad in Germany during high school and therefore my year goal is to learn how to pronounce this word: Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz and yes it is a word! It means beef labeling regulation & delegation of supervision law. I am probably never going to use it, but is so long!

Quote or Words O' Wisdom
My mother drew a distinction between achievement and success. She said that 'achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others, and that's nice, too, but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.' Helen Hayes -US actress (1900 - 1993)
