Below is a draft schedule of events for Opening Days 2013; it is subject to change. Be sure to check the final schedule at orientation check-in on August 22.

Opening Days Headquarters Open

Parent Lounge Open

Mark O. Hatfield Library, 24 Hour Study Room, 1st floor

Stop by the Parent Lounge to check email, peruse university resources or enjoy refreshments. Willamette staff will be available to assist you and answer questions.

8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

New Student and Parent Check-In

Cat Cavern, Putnam University Center, 2nd floor

Students and parents should pick up their Opening Days packet. Students will also pick up their residence hall and mailbox keys and have their student ID card picture taken.

8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Settling-In Activities

Campus-wide

Refer to the Settling-In Checklist in your packet for activities that may be accomplished during this time. Activities are divided by those that must be done today and those that can be done at your discretion.

9 a..m to 2 p.m.

Rummage Sale

Jackson Plaza

Hosted by the Willamette sorority community, you’ll find items commonly needed for college life, including mini fridges, hangers, alarm clocks, lamps and much more! All of the items have been donated by students who have lived in the residence halls.

10 a.m.

Parent and Family Campus Tour

Hatfield Library

Meet an admission tour guide at the Clock Tower.

11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

New Student-Athlete & Parent Orientation

Smith Auditorium

Students interested in participating in varsity athletics should plan to attend this event with their parents. Information will be provided on the athletics department, health insurance and the academic program designed especially for first-year student-athletes.

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Join us for the official kick-off event of the Opening Days program with special performances by Male Ensemble Willamette and the Opening Days leaders. Featured Speakers: President Steve Thorsett and Vice President for Enrollment Micheal Beseda

Meet your Opening Days leaders in Sparks Center, Cone Field House.

Each of the two sessions listed below will be offered twice. Please attend at your designated time based on the first letter of your last name. A short break will be offered between sessions.

Picnic Dinner and Entertainment

Brown Field (south of Goudy Commons; if rain, seating available in Goudy Commons and Putnam University Center)

A picnic dinner for new students and their families. Following dinner, students will pick up their student ID cards near the entrance to Goudy Commons. Parents and family members will need a ticket, students will use their board plans. Tickets will be available on site for purchase.

Residence Life at Willamette

Members of the Residence Life staff will answer questions regarding campus living organizations. Parents and family Students only members (including students) should attend the session corresponding to the residence hall in which their student resides. After the initial session, students and parents will have separate agendas for the rest of the evening.

Residential Area Welcome Parties

Residential areas - Cornerstone, Westside, or Eastside
