Opening Days Staff Applicants

Thank you for your interest in a 2012 Opening Days staff position.  Please review the job description, application, and a link to access the online reference form, reading through all the information carefully.  Listed below is some important information regarding the application process.

  1. Your application and completed reference form are due online Wednesday, February 1 by 3:00 p.m. Complete applications will include:
  2. Give your reference plenty of time to complete and submit them online by the February 1st deadline.
    The reference should be completed by a Willamette faculty/staff member (e.g., athletic coach, advisor, College Colloquium professor), an employment supervisor (if you have a job on campus) or your Resident Assistant (if you live on-campus).

    Note: It is never acceptable to have a friend complete a reference form, even if they have also served in a supervisory role. You should also avoid using the Director and Assistant Director of Student Activities, OD Coordinator/Lead Team or any member of the OD leader selection committee as your references.

  3. When you submit your application, you will sign up for an individual interview and a group interview. If you are a returning OD leader or an applicant currently studying abroad, you do not need to participate in the group interview.
    • Individual interviews will be 30 minutes in length and take place February 7-13 in the Office of Student Activities.
    • Group interviews will take place on February 15 at 7:00pm and 16 at 6:00pm (you choose one time).
  4. If hired, students must attend three (3) training sessions outlined on the attached job description.
  5. You may not serve as a Jump Start leader or Residence Life staff member while serving as an Opening Days leader.  You may, however, apply for more than one position.
  6. If you are on the football, volleyball, or soccer teams, you may not apply to be an Opening Days leader.
  7. We encourage you to attend one of two OD leader information sessions (information, Q&A, and light refreshments) on Tuesday, January 17 at 7pm in Alumni Lounge or Thursday, January 26 at 7:00 pm in Dining Rooms 1 & 2 of the Cat Cavern. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the position and have your questions answered.
