Kate Wilhelm

Hi, welcome to NSOCO! My name is Kate Wilhelm, I'm one of the NSOCO leaders, and I’m a junior this year. I’m from Spokane, Washington, where I love the summers but hate the winters- too much snow. I love the weather in Oregon, sometimes the rain gets old, but it’s easier to drive in than snow ;).

At Willamette, I’m majoring in Math and haven’t decided about minoring yet. Besides camping out in the library with hours and hours of math homework, I also love being involved in clubs and organizations on campus. This year, I am one of the Co-Presidents of Circle K, one of the community service clubs at Willamette. I am also a Co-Director of a club called S.H.E., which stands for Strength, Health, Equality, as well as a part of SARA, Sexual Assault Response Allies. I have also really enjoyed being a part of Willamette’s alternative spring break program, Take a Break, through which I spent my last spring break building houses in a border town in Texas. It’s a wonderful opportunity, and I plan on participating again this year.

As you can probably tell, I like to keep myself nice and busy. My friends joke that I always seem to be running in circles. To relax, and keep my head from exploding, I love spending time working out at the gym almost every day, or sitting down and flipping through a girly magazine. I also love coffee breaks at the Bistro with my friends, and watching hours of Grey’s Anatomy, or stupid YouTube videos. And I always love a good nap, or a spontaneous road trip to the beach or to Portland with a friend.

I am really excited to lead NSOCO again this year. I participated in NSOCO as an incoming freshman, and I think it is one of the most amazing programs at Willamette.
