The OHANA student leadership team has designed a diverse group of activities to fill each day. There will be time everyday when all three Jump Start programs will gather to spend time getting to meet other first year students. We will eat breakfast and dinner together. Each evening there will be options to join fun group activities. This schedule is subject to change.
Register, check-in and pickup any "last-minute" items needed. We will meet for Dinner - "Ohana-Style" (Your Families are encouraged to stay and attend) and depart for the 4-H Center. Activities include spending time getting to know your leaders and other OHANA participants.
We take as short drive down I-5 todowntown Portland and explore the diversity of downtown in the "Big City". Sites will include "The Portland Saturday Market" with it's diversity of vendors and food and Powell's Bookstore; the largest book store in the world.
WillametteTour - OHANA leaders will share about their experiences and you will have an opportunity to explore important resources and support services needed to navigate WU and take your photo for your student ID. In the afternoon we will jump on the bus (free for WU students) and tour Salem.
We will take a drive through the Oregon countryside and explore the beauty of Multnomah Falls and enjoy a day of fun activities at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl.
In the evening take part in "Cultural Issues" - a "real" conversation of what one might expect as a multicultural student and shared experiences on how to flourish during your time at WU.
All three Jump Start programs will have an opportunity to experience what each program has been doing during their week (Hiking, Community Service). The Ohana Dinner on this evening will include administrators and faculty from across campus, as well as international students and athletes.
We will have you back to campus for Opening Days activities at 10:00 a.m.
