Residential Services
Welcome

Living in the residence halls is an exciting, new experience. The campus living experience is an integral part of your education. In addition to providing comfortable and convenient housing, we offer a unique opportunity for you to be part of a community where students share a common bond of friendship and a desire to learn.

In your community, you will have the opportunity to meet people from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles. The diversity of our community enriches our classes, activities, programs and everyday interactions. Getting to know others in your community may be one of the most rewarding aspects of your college experience. You are encouraged to become well acquainted with community members, to use these experiences to increase your knowledge of others and to make new and lasting friendships. Your active involvement in the community and your participation in its activities are essential for its growth and the formation of positive relationships.

The residential community at Willamette University consists of you, the members of your floor and building and members of the other residences on campus. Your community will begin to develop from the day residences open in August. The direction your community takes depends largely upon your involvement. Your interaction with others and their interaction with you is the largest factor in the creation of a supportive living environment. The residence environment can offer you support in achieving academic excellence, social maturity, self-reliance and an increased understanding of yourself and others. One of the best ways to help ensure the successful growth of your community is for residents to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect for each other and for their living space. Before you act, consider the impact your behavior may have upon your fellow community members.

As an adult member of the Willamette community, you are expected to be accountable for your actions. Please familiarize yourself with the Residence Life/Residential Services Handbook before arriving on campus.
