Amara Fanucci is a junior studying Rhetoric and Psychology. She is from Mercer Island, Washington. On campus, Amara is involved in leadership positions in Pi Beta Phi, she is the Prospective Student Host Coordinator for the Office of Admission, and she has also been an Opening Days leader. This fall, Amara will be studying abroad in Granada, Spain.
I was drawn to the Kemper program because when I read about it I thought that it was too good to be true! I was amazed that there was a foundation that would pay me to live in Chicago with 20 other like-minded students, set up an amazing internship for me, and even give me scholarship money throughout the year. I decided to apply, and I am so happy that I did! The Kemper Foundation is an amazing resource for the students that are in the program. Not only did I have a marketing internship at John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago this summer, but the two program directors teach weekly business knowledge and leadership classes. This was an invaluable experience for me because I learned about things like networking, resumes, organizational culture, and many others that I would never have been exposed to otherwise. This program has given me the tools and confidence that I need to be successful in the working world.
