Math Circles will return in September 2013
Who can sign up?
Students who are enrolled in High School Honors Geometry or higher level math with an interest in delving deeper into mathematics with intriguing problem solving activities and mind bending math puzzles.
What is the program?
The Willamette University Math Circles brings mathematicians, mathematical scientists, educators and students together. The students meet with mathematics professionals to work on interesting problems or topics in mathematics. The goal is to get the students excited about mathematical thinking, and instill a deeper understanding of math beyond arithmetic. The group will discuss various math topics and use fun, hands-on problem solving to deepen their understanding of mathematics. An interest in math and a willingness to try new ways of using your mind is required.

Who is in the Math Circle?
The circle is led by a pair of Willamette University mathematics professors and several university students, joined by about twelve students. Guest presenters will be invited to share their areas of expertise.
Where is it held?
In the state of the art Ford building on the Willamette University campus.
When is it held?
Tuesday afternoons, beginning in September 2013 from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm.
What is the cost?
Registration for eight weeks is $50. Scholarships are available.
