Travel Center Fees
Nearly all travel agencies, including the Travel Center, have relied on airling and other vendor commission revenues in the past. Recently, however, commission levels have dropped drastically or ended completely. The Travel Center, along with the rest of the industry, was forced to implement service fees to cover costs.
The Travel Center has taken a number of actions to combat rising costs, but service fees remain the primary source of income. The Travel Center has upgraded equipment to take advantage of web fares and on-line discount hotel rates and is in the process of implementing an on-line booking product in the coming months.
These steps are designed to reduce operating costs and will provide the campus with the broadest availability of low fares and discounts.

Comparison of these rates against those charged by other university managed travel programs and private travel agencies in the area indicates that the Willamette University Travel Center fees continue to be lower.
