During the 2011-2012 winter break, Web Development will be upgrading the WebEdit system to version 6.10.7. The upgrade will be completed by January, 2012. With this change in WebEdit, along with a newer look, new tools and features will be available for use.

Below, is a list of the changes relevant to users.

Context Menu

See the tutorial

WebEdit now has a context-menu that allows the user to perform various operations on that asset with one click. On the right of each asset, there is now a small downward arrow. When clicked on, this arrow will reveal a drop down menu that displays various editing options.

Parallel Publishing

A major improvement is Parallel Publishing. Previous versions of WebEdit allowed only one publish queue across the entire system with only one active job. Now, Webedit is able to publish two assets at a time.

Native Image Editing Tool

See the tutorial

In the updated version of WebEdit, a new tool called the "Native Image Editing Tool" is available for use when importing or editing an image file.

The following operations are available:

  • Undo/Redo
  • Resize dimensions (maintaining aspect ratio or not)
  • Rotate clockwise/counterclockwise
  • Flip horizontal/vertical
  • Crop

Collapsible Groups

See the tutorial

You can collapse/expand a group in the editor for easier viewing. In addition, any time a group is added or removed, the page now has a much faster loading time.
