Dempsey Book Club 2017

Willamette students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Dempsey Lecture book club featuring books from author, historian and 2017 Dempsey Lecture speaker, Naomi Oreskes.

Oreskes is a Professor of the History of Science at Harvard University and the author of “The Rejection of Continental Drift: Theory and Method in American Earth Science” (1999), “Merchants of Doubt” (2010), and “The Collapse of Western Civilization: A View from the Future” (2014).

Discussion groups will be led by students and faculty members and includes one led by President Steve Thorsett. Discussion groups will focus on either “Merchants of Doubt” or “The Collapse of Western Civilization.”

To participate in one of the discussion groups, click the registration button below, then select the discussion group book and meeting date/time that works for you.

Since this is set up to be a traditional book club, group sizes will be limited. Books are available in the Office of the President, Waller Hall 5th floor, M-F, 8 to 5 p.m. Each group will meet once before the lecture.
