Testing Requirements
The Willamette University Graduate School of Education requires that all candidates pass all tests as required by the State of Oregon for licensure. We recommend that candidates have two levels of authorization. This will ensure your marketability when trying to find a job after graduation. When looking at what tests you need to take, be sure to look at all authorization requirements.
Find out what tests are required based on your authorization level:
- I want to teach early childhood (age 3-grade 4) and elementary (grades 3-8).
- I want to teach elementary (grades 3-8) and middle school (grades 5-9).
- I want to teach middle school (grades 5-9) and high school (grades 7-12).
The test requirements for admission, program completion and licensure may require interpretation. We encourage you to stay in touch with the Graduate School of Education to be sure that you take the correct exams.
It is advised that you take the Oregon recommended exams. However, if you have taken another state's required exam, check this link to see if that test will satisfy the Oregon requirements for licensure.
