Some of this faculty member's accomplishments include:

• 2011 Recipient of the United Methodist Award for Exemplary Teaching and Service - honoring extraordinary impact that a professor has inside the classroom and within the community
• Research interests include the teaching of writing, K-12 literacy and teacher research
• Publications on preservice teacher research and voice and pedagogy in the middle school
  
• Presentations at American Educational Research Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and Oregon Council of Teachers of English, among others
• Interested in issues of sustainability in education, safe schools, and student voice
