WU GSE is proud to offer many professional development opportunities for educators. In addition to courses offered on-campus and online, Willamette partners with many schools, districts and organizations to provide opportunities to continue growth in the field of education.
Summer Institutes
Earn 3-4 semester graduate level credits in five summer days! Summer Institutes is a long-standing, high quality educational conference started in 1987. Summer Institutes serves the life-long learning needs of teachers, school counselors and administrators. There are 26 sites in six states across the country, providing professional growth and graduate-level courses to thousands of educators each year. Willamette University credits will be awarded for Summer Institutes participation. These credits do not count towards any Willamette University degree, license or endorsement program. Credits earned can count towards continuing education units or professional development credits.
Continuing Education Courses
These courses encompasses the great variety of interests and needs of the classroom teacher and school administrator as they respond to new challenges, new regulations, and the continuing desire to improve their skills as a professional in education.
Offerings vary to include all content areas and all grade levels, as the interest indicates and the quality of instructors exists. Our primary focus is to serve the needs of the educational community through a high quality, personalized and cooperative effort to support the individual's professional growth.
Courses may be offered throughout the year on a variety of schedules. Locations include Willamette University and public schools, as serves the needs and convenience of the participants. Credits are graduate-level and offered in semester hours.
Test Preparation Courses
These courses are designed to help educators prepare to take exams for ESOL or Reading endorsement programs.
