Larry Schucht

Adjunct Professor

Larry graduated with a BS in business administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1982, and with a JD from Creighton University in 1986. Larry is a trial attorney on SAIF’s northern trial team. He has worked at SAIF since 1989, and has been a member of the Oregon State Bar since 1986, specializing in workers’ compensation since 1986. Prior to coming to SAIF, he worked at Bottini, Bottini & Lehner, and at Stoel Rives Boley Jones & Grey.

Larry has contributed to the Oregon State Bar’s Workers’ Compensation CLE handbook in 2000 and 2008 and has spoken on several occasions before the Workers’ Compensation Section at the Bench Bar Forum. He was a speaker and presenter and the Workers’ Compensation Section annual meeting at Salishan in 2010 and 2011. He prepared and presented “How to Try a Workers’ Compensation Case” before the Oregon State Bar in November 2011. In September 2015 he was a speaker at Oregon Law Institute through Northwestern School of Law on the Future of Workers’ Compensation.

Larry has been a member of the Going Forward Committee since 2011. Larry was instrumental in getting the University of Oregon to agree to offer a Workers' Compensation Law Class for the first time in its history. He then agreed to become an adjunct professor where he has taught since January 2015. In May 2015 he was awarded the Workers’ Compensation Section Professionalism and Service Award.

Away from work, Larry has been happily married to his wife Lynn for 28 years with 3 children; the oldest, Emily, is a 2012 graduate of OSU and 2 others, Megan and Eric, are current students at U of O. Larry has also been active in his community. He is a member of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was the Committee Chair for Troop 530 from 2007 to 2014 (his son Eric is an Eagle Scout). He also is an active member of Living Savior Lutheran Church where he was the Youth Board Chair from 2008 to 2012 and has been on 4 mission trips with the youth group to help out in places like New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and Joplin, Missouri which was struck by a Tornado. In addition he is an avid fan of Nebraska football and the Portland Trailblazers.
