Message

I am a full-time investment practitioner, part-time financial markets educator, and lifelong value investing student. As a practitioner I protect and grow generational wealth for high-net-worth clients and foundations and endowments based in the Pacific Northwest. I deploy capital based on the timeless principles of value investing: (1) Avoid permanent losses of capital, (2) Invest when opportunities provide a reasonable margin of safety, and (3) Invest in businesses within my circle of competence.

Biography

Chris Magana joined the contributing faculty of the Atkinson Graduate School of Management in summer 2015. Chris brings with him nearly two decades of portfolio management experience.

As a contributing assistant professor, Chris teaches students the principles of portfolio management, personal finance, foundational finance theories, and value investing. He also oversees the student managed investment fund, currently valued at $450,000.

Chris is passionate about contributing to the development of the next generation of value investors and responsible business leaders and wants “students to have the analytical tools to think independently and seek ethical solutions."
