A member of the American Law Institute, Professor Hagedorn joined the Willamette law faculty in 1984. Nine years later, he was appointed the Rosalind Van Winkle Melton Professor of Law in recognition of his excellence in teaching and scholarship. He teaches Secured Transactions, Payment Systems, Sales, and Debtor-Creditor. Prior to his teaching career, Hagedorn worked at the law firm of Weatherford, Thompson, Horton and Jordan in Albany, Ore. He writes extensively in the field of commercial law and has several books and countless articles to his credit.

David A. Friedman

A commercial law and business law expert, Professor Friedman joined the Willamette law faculty in 2008 after serving as a visiting professor in the Clinical Law Program. He teaches Contracts I and II and Business Organizations. Prior to joining Willamette, Friedman worked as a management consultant for Monitor Group, a global strategy consultancy. For nearly a decade, he specialized in advising Global Fortune 1000 companies, private equity firms and nonprofit organizations on transactional and other strategic matters. While attending law school at Yale University, Friedman served as a teaching assistant to James Tobin, who won the 1981 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. He was also a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics.

Meyer Eisenberg, a visiting professor of law at Willamette, is former deputy general counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), a position he had held since December 1998. Previously, he worked at the Commission from 1959–70 and worked in private practice from 1970–98. He also was director of the National Center on Financial Services at the University of California–Berkeley. Eisenberg also served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William M. McAllister of the Oregon Supreme Court. He teaches several upper-level courses covering a range of securities issues, including securities regulation and corporate governance.

An active scholar and lecturer, Professor Letsou teaches Business Organizations, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Business Law. He also directs Willamette’s Law and Business Program and serves as associate dean of the college. A graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, Letsou served as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Division of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit for the Purpose of Appointing Independent Counsels. He also worked as associate counsel for the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Secret Military Assistance to Iran and the Nicaraguan Opposition.
