Professor Leads Task Force on Major League Soccer
Soccer fans cheered this month as the Portland Timbers became Major League Soccer’s 18th franchise, and Steven Maser, professor of public policy and public management at Willamette’s MBA program, helped guide the discussions leading to the decision.
Maser used his public policy expertise as he chaired the Task Force on Major League Soccer and Triple-A Baseball, which analyzed the soccer proposal. As he testified to the Portland city council about the plan, he appeared on all the Portland television stations and even in a political cartoon by The Oregonian’s Jack Ohman — Maser wasn’t identified by name, but his mustache and glasses were unmistakable.
Listen to Maser discuss the plan during his appearance on “Think Out Loud,” a news program on OPB radio: http://www.opb.org/thinkoutloud/shows/soccer-city-usa/.
