Students sorted and hung artwork at the Willamette Valley Medical Center as part of a service project for Into the Streets.
Another Into the Streets project involved painting offices at the Union Gospel Mission.
Students cleaned toys at the Easter Seals Children's Guild as part of an Into the Streets service project.
The Blind Boys of Alabama, worldwide legends of gospel music, performed in Smith Auditorium.
Willamette’s celebration of Dr. King included a Pledge Walk, a self-reflection activity to remind people of their advantages in life.
Students signed the Willamette Pledge, a commitment to the belief that all individuals are valued.
The theme of this year’s celebration was “Remember. Reflect. Realize. The Dream.”
A performance about African-American women who shaped history was part of a Monday community event.
Community members performed “I Dream a World: Portraits of Black Women Who Changed America.”
Signs posted around campus reminded students of important moments in civil rights history.
