Former Willamette runner wins national indoor championship
Former Willamette University runner Nick Symmonds '06 won the men's 800-meter race Sunday at the U.S. indoor track and field championships.
Running for Oregon Track Club, Symmonds finished with a time of 1:48.10. He will compete for Team USA at the world indoor championships in Doha, Qatar, March 12-14.
Symmonds competed for the U.S. in the 800 meters at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. At Willamette, he majored in biochemistry and won four national titles in the 800 meters and three in the 1,500 meters.
