Professor produces CD in new Ford Hall music studio
Music Professor Mike Nord's latest CD release was mixed and mastered in the recording studio in Ford Hall, Willamette's new academic building that opened in the fall.
The CD, titled "The Flow: Music for Improvised Dance," features Nord on guitar and electronics and Georg Hofmann on percussion. It was released in March by Leo Records, a leading international publisher of improvised music.
"The Flow" was recorded during a 2008 live concert in Switzerland in which both musicians and two dancers were freely improvising. Nord mixed and mastered the CD this academic year using Ford Studios.
Nord's professional interests focus on improvised music, interdisciplinary collaboration and laptop-based electronics in live performance. Nord and Hofmann have performed together for 25 years in a variety of groups and interdisciplinary projects, but this was their first duo recording.
