Prominent environmental attorney visits Willamette University

M. C. Mehta, one of the world's foremost environmental attorneys, will deliver a free lecture Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Paulus Lecture Hall at the Willamette University College of Law.

Mehta will address "Global Climate Change: Options and Next Steps." He is the founder of the M. C. Mehta Environmental Foundation and winner of the Goldman Environmental Prize and the Ramon Magsaysay Award.

Mehta's landmark environmental cases in the Supreme Court of India have resulted in the protection of India's natural and cultural treasures — including the Ganges River and Taj Mahal — from toxic pollution.

The event is co-sponsored by the Willamette Center for Sustainable Communities, the Willamette University Sustainability Council, the Willamette University College of Law and the Friends of Straub Environmental Learning Center.
