Willamette alumni revisit campus in record numbers for reunion

More than 600 Willamette University alumni and guests came back to campus Sept. 24-26 for Reunion Weekend to visit old friends and professors, reminisce about their college days and tour their former stomping grounds.

Attendance was 50% higher than last year, and it was the largest turnout Willamette has seen at Reunion Weekend in the past few decades.

In honor of their 50-year reunion, members of the class of 1960 gave $5.3 million to their alma mater during the last five years — money that went to various programs across campus. That included $782,000 to form an endowed scholarship for students, and $3 million from Melody and Mark Teppola '60 to create a visiting professorship in the College of Liberal Arts.

Alumni visitors traveled in from 23 states, plus Guam and El Salvador. Whether they were coming from a few blocks away or from another country, they enjoyed a weekend filled with class receptions, the ever-popular family-friendly QuadFest, and alumni games of baseball, rugby and lacrosse.
