Internationally known peacemaker to lecture at Willamette
Father John Dear, an internationally known voice for peace and nonviolence, will deliver the 21st Annual Salem Peace Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Hudson Hall at Willamette University. The event is free and open to the public.
The topic of his lecture is "Visioning Peace: Toward a Just and Sustainable World." Dear is a Jesuit priest, pastor, peacemaker, organizer, lecturer and retreat leader. He is the author or editor of 25 books, including his autobiography, "A Persistent Peace."
In 2008, Dear was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He has served as executive director of Fellowship of Reconciliation, the largest interfaith peace organization in the U.S. Learn more on Dear's website.
