Willamette music department presents master class for electric bass

Electric bassist John Pounds will conduct a master class Thursday, Dec. 2, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Rogers Rehearsal Hall at Willamette University. The event is free and open to the public.

A blend of soulful jazz, R&B, hip-hop and a little Cajun spice give this seven-string bass player a unique flavor of his own. Pounds, a New Jersey native, has shared the stage with Wynonna Judd, Bon Jovi, the Celine Dion Orchestra, Tom Jones, Elton John, Billy Joel and others. His one-of-a-kind finger-flying and bass-slapping style has made him a favorite in Northwest venues.
