Environmental justice task force earns award from EPA

On Dec. 15, the Environmental Protection Agency announced that the Oregon Environmental Justice Task Force earned a 2010 National Achievement in Environmental Justice Award for effectively implementing associated legislation and incorporating principles of environmental justice into state agency programs.

College of Law's Robin Morris Collin and Center for Sustainable Communities' R. William Collin represented the university on the task force that was one of just five groups in the nation so recognized.

"Congratulations to the Oregon Environmental Justice Task Force for receiving this national award," said Governor Ted Kulongoski. "Environmental justice is about correcting the imbalance of environmental benefits and environmental burdens. In the short time since the task force was created, it has worked diligently to highlight how the State of Oregon is working to achieve that balance."
