Senior art students
A new exhibition featuring Willamette senior art students’ work is slated to open April 9 and continue through May 15.
Each spring, the museum presents work characterized by a wide variety of styles and approaches, such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography and mixed media.
This year’s graduating seniors include Emily Cafaro from St. Helena, Calif.; Katie Hendricks from St. George, Utah; Chelsea Ibarra from Santa Cruz, Calif.; Emily Lewis from Alameda, Calif.; Meghan Lloyd from Albany, Ore.; Kelli Maeshiro from Honolulu, Hawaii; Ellie Millen from Anchorage, Ala.; Sarah Miller from Palo Alto, Calif.; Max Stepan from Pueblo, Colo.; and Andrew Theis from Toledo, Ohio.
A number of student-led gallery talks have been planned in conjunction with the students’ exhibition.
“These gallery talks are a great opportunity for students to talk about their work, which is something they’ll need to be able to do as professional artists,” added museum director John Olbrantz.
Students discussing their work include: draftsman Emily Lewis, mixed media artist Kelli Maeshiro, digital artist Ellie Millen and sculptor Sarah Miller on April 19; photographer Chelsea Ibarra, sculptor Max Stepan and painter Andrew Theis on April 26; and assemblage artist Emily Cafaro, painter Katie Hendricks and printmaker Meghan Lloyd on May 3. The gallery talks begin at 12:30 p.m. Admission is complimentary.
