Museum offers free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families

Willamette University’s Hallie Ford Museum of Art, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and over 1,300 museums throughout the United States, will offer free admission to all active military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2011.

“Our participation in the Blue Star Museums Program provides a great opportunity to acknowledge, recognize and thank our military families for all they are doing for our country,” said museum director John Olbrantz. “In addition, we hope that military personnel and their families will become lifelong museum goers.”

The free admission program is available for any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card. The program includes active duty military, National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve personnel with up to five immediate family members.

Leadership support has been provided by the MetLife Foundation through Blue Star Families, a nonpartisan, nonprofit network of military families with a mission to support, connect and empower military families.
