Hallie Ford Museum of Art seeks docents
The Hallie Ford Museum of Art is recruiting volunteers to lead guided tours.
Training includes lectures, presentations by guest speakers and gallery sessions on the museum's permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. The next class for docents begins on Sept. 12, and the application deadline is Aug. 31.
For eight months, docent trainees participate in weekly classes, and they give guided tours in the spring. Docents are asked to become or remain members of the museum, contribute $15 per year and make a two-year commitment once they graduate.
"Most docents enjoy it so much that they remain active for many years," said John Olbrantz, director of the museum.
An application packet is available at the museum or by calling (503) 370-6855.
